EMILY BRACKEN

CONSULTANT

Prior to joining DUCI, I developed my professional career over the last ten years as a consultant in both the private and non-governmental sectors. My work involved research and planning for new products and initiatives and developing organizational effectiveness. Six years of my consulting experience has been with the international firms of Deloitte and Accenture. In the non-governmental sector, I worked in fundraising at Ashoka: Innovators for the Public and have additional field work experience in Venezuela, Kenya, and Uganda. 

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Dayton and a Master’s degree in International Development Studies from George Washington University.

 

SARAH BISSELL

SENIOR CONSULTANT (SHANGAI, CHINA)

Over the last 15 years I have lived and worked in China on various occasions as a volunteer and as the Head of Fundraising at a Hong Kong charity. Prior to joining the not for profit sector I worked as Sales Manager for a group of China business magazines and managed multinational clients in Europe and Greater China. I have 10 years of fundraising experience in China, Hong Kong and Europe, which has given me a deep understanding of how things work in China. I speak Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

I have worked across the fundraising mix; in high profile events, corporate fundraising and strategic planning as well as major donor giving, individual giving and public health campaigns. Before joining Daryl Upsall Consulting International in 2009, I headed up the Corporate Partnerships team at the British Red Cross.


EVA BIOSCA

CONSULTANT - INSTITUTIONAL FUNDING

I joined DUCI in 2008. I provide services mainly identifying potential donors in the public and private sector that fund NGOs’ projects and initiatives as well as submitting specific projects to calls for proposals. I take part as researcher in several market studies for different organizations both at national and international levels.

I am a graduate in Biology with postgraduate studies in Marine Biology. I started working in the NGO sector in 1992, volunteering in several organizations. From 1997 to 2003 I worked for African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) as responsible for the Projects Department, raising public funds and managing health and development projects in Africa. I also have field work experience in Kenya, Uganda and Mozambique.


DIANA RUANO ORTIZ

SENIOR CONSULTANT

I joined DUCI in 2007 where I develop fundraising and other non profit consulting services, including new market entry studies for major international NGOs, integrated brand strategies for new organizations, recruitment of senior management positions and the implementation of fundraising strategies as well as strategic reviews of current fundraising programs. I currently oversee the launch of new fundraising tools and have also taken part in capital campaigns for Spanish cultural institutions.

I have developed an international career both in the private and the non-for profit sectors. Prior to joining DUCI, I worked within the corporate world in a brand consulting company, Bloom Consulting, where I was the Strategy Manager. My experience in the business sector includes Sogecable TV Group and Bassat Ogilvy and Mather in Spain and London. I have also worked with NGOs in Morocco and India and developed field work in Nicaragua and El Salvador.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Stanford University and a Masters in Conflict Resolution from the Open University in Barcelona.


Leyre Ayastuy

Consultant

I joined DUCI and the third sector in 2007. I work since then taking part in market research and studies, co-leading the legadosolidario.org campaign, developing Communications and fundraising projects and leading the distribution and selling of specific products for non for profit entities.

I became a freelance on the areas of promotion and Communications in 2005. I developed a large part of my professional experience on theme television during 9 years, as Head of Programming and Marketing in the cable TV department of the Sogecable TV Group, being in charge of the distribution and marketing of the Sogecable’s channels.


Isabel Leal

Consultant

I have developed my professional career as journalist as well as in the field of corporate communications. On the private sector, I have worked for Sogecable TV Group, Europa Press news agency and Discovery Channel, amongst others. I am involved with the Third Sector since 1992 and I have worked as media officer for Greenpeace International (Amsterdam) as well as for Médecins Sans Frontières (Barcelona).

I joined DUCI in 2005 where I develop Communications projects, co-lead the legadosolidario.org campaign and conduct research in market studies for both nacional and International projects. I am a graduate in Information Science from the Complutense University of Madrid. I also collaborate with different publications in a variety of issues.


Clare Garey

Consultant

I joined DUCI shortly after moving to Madrid in 2006.  I have nearly ten years of experience in fundraising at an international level and have worked with the leading charities Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK and Mission Australia, where I led the development of several innovative corporate/community partnerships for the organization with the likes of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deutsche Bank.

My specialist experience is in relationship fundraising. In DUCI I work with organizations both in Spain and internationally to help them develop practical and results-focussed fundraising strategies. I lead in-depth market-entry studies and I am involved in the recruitment processes of senior fundraising and communications staff on an on-going basis. 


natalia delgado

Marketing Director

I am the Marketing Director and I am also the CEO of two companies interrelated with DUCI: The Fundraising Company SL which is a Call Centre and Fundraising Iniciativas SL, which is specialized in face to face  and door to door fundraising.

I have been involved in the Third Sector since 2002, helping organizations in Spain to grow in resources throughout different fundraising techniques. I am proud to say that we have helped them increase in income over €100M during this period of time.


miryam delgado

communications director

Miryam joined Daryl Upsall Consulting International on May 1, 2006 in the new role of Communications Director. 

For the previous 13 years Miryam has worked for the international publishing group Reed-Elsevier in Holland and in Spain as the Marketing Manager of different business units.

Her primary expertise is in marketing and communications, as well as on the complete publishing process (print and electronic).

Previously, whilst living in the UK, she worked in the non for profit sector in Community Services Volunteer (CSV) helping raising funds for joint European projects from the EEC Social Funds.


daryl upsall

executive director

Over the last 20 years Daryl Upsall has successfully worked within NGOs such as The Terrence Higgins Trust and Greenpeace International. He has successfully founded and managed the fundraising, communications and advocacy operations for international development and campaigning organizations in over 40 countries.

Formerly, the International Fundraising and Marketing Director for Greenpeace International for seven and a half years and on occasions acting Communications Director Daryl and his team were responsible for turning around Greenpeace’s financial fortunes, doubling the global net income and raising more than $1 billion for the environment in the process.

In the early 1990’s he was responsible for the first professional fundraising management in the HIV/AIDS sector for what is now the world’s HIV/AIDS organisation The Terrence Higgins Trust. He used this experience to train HIV/AIDS organisations in the UK and Scandinavia. He has also had a successful career in lobbying and advocacy for third world development groups, women’s’ rights, advocacy organisations, political parties and liberation movements.

Daryl is a regular speaker at national and international NGO conferences in the UK, USA, Canada, Netherlands, Kenya, Sweden, Denmark & Spain. He is a volunteer with the Resource Alliance and is a member of the Association of Professional Fundraisers (APF) in Spain and Institute of Fundraising in the UK since 1987 and sits on the Board of EU Consult.
